Funding assistance

So how can Mackintosh Consultants help?

We have experience in the following highly relevant areas:

  • seeking partners and forming successful multi-national consortia
  • writing successful Framework and other proposals
  • evaluating Framework proposals for the EC
  • carefully constructing projects which attract funding
  • giving presentations for the UK Government and throughout Europe on how to produce successful proposals
  • reviewing on-going Framework and LINK projects for the EC and DTI
  • managing Framework projects and co-ordinating all activities with the EC
  • constantly monitoring and analysing all National and Community literature and announcements concerning funding programmes

This is backed up with our staff's many years' technical and management experience at all levels in both large and small high-technology companies – all of which can be used to ensure that our clients' chances of obtaining funding are significantly increased.

We can therefore assist you in a number of ways:

  • we can undertake a straightforward critique of your existing proposal, highlighting weaknesses and deficiencies for you to address
  • if more time is available, we can arrange a more thorough appraisal, since we have access to a network of experienced EC evaluators, from a wide range of technical specialities
  • in conjunction with the latter, we can refine the weaker areas for you, and provide any missing parts
  • at the other extreme, we can undertake a review of your current capabilities and business objectives, and advise on the optimum projects and funding routes. We can then find appropriate partners, define a suitable project, and produce a professional proposal. Meanwhile, we will make use of our extensive contacts in the DTI and the EC to ensure maximum chance of success by co-ordinating a consortium-wide lobbying and awareness effort

Grants may be available to help you pay for our assistance!

Funding is available in many regions of Europe to help organisations explore project funding opportunities and prepare proposals – for example:

  • Preparatory Research Awards (PRAs) of up to £10,000 are sometimes available to SME's located in the UK's Yorkshire and Humber region to cover part of the costs of preparing a complete proposal for submission to the EC's RTD programmes
  • The Scottish Proposal Assistance Fund (SPAF) provides assistance, in the form of a grant, to help Scottish businesses - particulary SME's - develop project proposals for research and technological development. Up to 50% of eligible costs (staff time, travel and subsistence, consultancy) associated with the development and preparation of the FP7 proposal can be considered.
  • West Midlands Preparatory Research Awards (WMPRAs) of up to £10,000 are often available to SMEs located in the UK's West Midlands region to cover part of the costs of preparing a complete Framework proposal
  • Invest Northern Ireland provides financial help for travel associated with consortium building for industrially relevant EU projects through its RTD Networking Programme
